Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue massage is used to treat muscle strains and sports injuries. With sustained pressure and slow, deep strokes, it targets the inner layers of your muscles and connective tissues. It's especially beneficial for stiff necks, low back tightness, and sore shoulders. Deep tissue massage improves muscle function, range of motion, and pain by breaking up scar tissue and adhesions. Muscle tension prevents oxygen and nutrients from entering the body, resulting in inflammation and toxin buildup. Deep tissue massages relax muscles, release toxins, and improve blood and oxygen circulation. Deep tissue massage releases a lot of toxins, so drinking plenty of water afterward helps flush them out. In most cases, deep tissue massage once or twice a week is enough to relieve pain. Deep tissue massage helps with pain relief, posture improvement, increased flexibility and looseness, improved movement, and tissue metabolism restoration.

Swedish Massage

Swedish massage combines long, kneading strokes with rhythmic tapping strokes and joint movement. This massage focuses on the uppermost layer of muscles in order to relieve muscle tension. A whole-body massage typically lasts 50-60 minutes and includes the following body parts: back, shoulder, neck, arms, legs, feet, and can also include the head.

Techniques used: Effleurage, Petrissage, Kneading, Tapotement.

***It has also been said that an hour of full body massage is equivalent to eight hours of a good night's sleep! ***

Swedish massage has numerous benefits, including pain management, relaxation, increased circulation, decreased fatigue, and reduction of anxiety and depression.

Relaxation Massage

Relaxation massage relieves muscle tension, improves blood circulation, and relaxes the body. Its main purpose is to let clients escape their everyday routines and relax. Relaxation massages include: lengthy, rhythmic, smooth strokes, Deeply calming, non-painful pressure Rather than treating chronic pain or other disorders, this treatment relaxes and soothes. A therapist may use relaxing music, warm towels, and essential oils to enhance the massage setting and effects. As for relaxation massage benefits, like other types of massage, the effects extend for several days.

Reflexology

Reflexology

Reflexology is generally relaxing and may help relieve stress. According to the theory of reflexology, different parts of the foot correspond to different organs and systems of the body. It is thought that putting pressure on a part of the foot will help relax and heal the corresponding part of the body. Chinese medicine says that different parts of the body correspond to different pressure points on the body. Reflexologists use maps of these points in the feet, hands, and ears to know where to put pressure. They believe that when they touch a person, their touch sends energy through their body until it reaches the place that needs to be healed. Reflexology has four main benefits: it helps you relax and get rid of stress, it improves circulation, it helps the body naturally normalize metabolism, and it works well with any other healing method.

Cupping Therapy

**This add-on requires additional signed consent and an additional fee of $10 + HST.**

Cupping therapy is a treatment that may be recommended by your massage therapist, in addition to normal treatment techniques.

It involves applying glass/plastic/silicone cups to the skin to produce suction. Suction improves energy flow and healing. Cupping is employed in Chinese, Egyptian, Unani, traditional Korean, and Tibetan therapeutic systems. Cupping is thought to balance yin and yang, or negative and positive forces in the body. Restoring balance between these extremes may improve pathogen resistance, blood flow, and pain. Cupping improves blood circulation. Reduced muscle tension improves blood flow and cell healing. It may also help build new connective tissues and blood vessels. Cupping may help cure digestion disorders, skin concerns, and other acupressure-related diseases since it can be administered to significant acupressure points. There are four main cupping methods used today, however, we employ suction-only dry cupping.

Trigger Point Therapy

Myofascial Trigger Point Therapy, also known as "Trigger Point Therapy," is the treatment of myofascial trigger points (MTrP) or trigger points (TrP) in muscles and fascia. Myofascial trigger points are painful, tense areas of muscle. MTrPs have an impact on the muscles and fascia. Myofascial trigger points can be found anywhere on the body and are one of the most common causes of chronic musculoskeletal pain, also known as myofascial pain. A certified Therapist can help you release these painful and tense muscle points and achieve long-term results. Manual Trigger Point Therapy and dry needling are the two most common methods for treating trigger points. However, we only offer manual therapy. The goals of myofascial trigger point therapy are to improve blood circulation to the trigger zone, stretch the taut band, and release the fascia surrounding it.

Prenatal & Post-Partum Massage

Prenatal massage is a deep bodywork technique used to improve circulation, relieve strain on muscles and joints, and aid in the prenatal and postpartum phases of pregnancy. Massage therapy can help reduce pregnancy discomforts. Prenatal massage is another name for pregnancy massage. As the name implies, the massage is given during pregnancy to help the body prepare for the upcoming birth process. Pregnant women occasionally experience swelling, indigestion, and body aches. The pain can be reduced with the assistance of a skilled massage therapist. The hormones of the body can be controlled more effectively with prenatal massage therapy, which helps to maintain mood and health. These massages can also improve cardiovascular efficiency. Prenatal massages have been shown in studies to be extremely beneficial for pregnant women during these critical times.

Post-partum massage is very beneficial. Postpartum women lose a lot of nourishment, requiring specialist care. At times like these, this massage might improve health. An experienced massage therapist rejuvenates the mother. Postpartum massage reduces stress, muscle cramps, nursing, hormonal shifts, sleeping difficulties, and other issues. Thus, pre- and post-workout massages are equally vital. Pre- and post-pregnancy massages relieve tension.

Infant Massage

Infant massage is the process of rubbing and stroking an infant's muscles in a way that is specifically designed for them. Although there are professionally trained and certified infant massage therapists, the mother, father, grandparent, or guardian is the obvious first choice to massage the baby. Infant massage has the following advantages: Touch and massage on a regular basis have been shown in studies to improve physiological, cognitive, emotional, and social development. Routine baby massage, in particular, has been shown to improve mental development and increase alertness and attentiveness.

Non-Swedish Massage

Non-Swedish massage techniques are a collection of techniques used by manual practitioners that do not fall into the "Swedish" category. There are numerous popular and beneficial techniques that are not classified as Swedish Massage therapy. Non-Swedish Techniques include: Static Pressure Techniques, such as trigger point release; frictions, which use compression and motion to disrupt and break down existing and forming adhesions in muscles, tendons, and ligaments; myofascial release, which uses gentle sustained pressure into myofascial connective tissue restrictions to reduce pain and restore motion; joint mobilization techniques, such as muscle energy, tractioning, and joint play; and manual lymphatic drainage.

Friction Therapy

Friction is a massage technique used to increase circulation and release areas that are tight; particularly around joints and where there are adhesions within the muscles or tendons. Friction is defined as “an accurately delivered penetrating pressure applied through fingertips.” Frictions are commonly used to treat ligaments, tendons, fascia and muscles. Frictions can be applied transversely across soft tissue structures or in a circular movement. The technique can be applied with deep or superficial pressure depending on the desired outcome. It can be used to increase local circulation and promote healing. It is also used around joints to loosen adhesions and improve movement. It releases adhesions and promotes joint mobility. Frictions enhance vasodilation, recovery, collagen fibre breakdown/realignment, scar tissue breakdown, range of movement, and tissue elasticity.

Myofascial Stretch Therapy

Fascial Stretch Therapy (FST) is a set of movements that are meant to separate and organize the many layers of connective tissue that cover the muscles, joints, organs, and bones. It uses breathing techniques and traction to move joints back to where they don't hurt. It's a very active and stimulating way to stretch. It works on the fascia around muscles and joints instead of the muscles themselves. This helps nourish and heal the area you choose. Why is fascial stretch therapy good for you? When a patient gets fascial stretch therapy, they will have a greater range of motion, less pain, better muscle balance, a lower risk of injury, better posture, more energy, better blood flow, and less joint impingement.
